How To Get to Midigama

Midigama is around 2.5 hours from Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital city. The most convenient way to reach it is by taking the Southern Expressway. If you want to travel the scenic route, you can opt for a train ride along the coastline, which takes about 3-4 hours. Tuk-tuks and buses are also widely available for local transportation once you arrive in Midigama.

What Can I Do in Midigama?

Midigama is renowned all over the island for its surf breaks, making it a haven for surfers of all levels. Popular surf spots include:

-       Lazy Left: Perfect for beginners and those looking for long, mellow waves.

-       Rams Right: A more challenging break ideal for experienced surfers.

There are several surf schools in the area and most of them offer lessons and equipment rentals, so even first-timers can give surfing a go.

If surfing isn’t your thing, Midigama’s golden beaches provide the perfect setting to relax and soak up the sun. Enjoy long walks along the shoreline, build sandcastles, or unwind with a good book.

On the other hand, if you’re keen on exploring the coastline (which we also highly recommend), there is no shortage of places to see, restaurants to try and beaches to stroll along! Some of our top hotspots are;

 One of the best parts of a trip to the coast is the food. Midigama’s food scene is a delightful mix of traditional Sri Lankan dishes and international cuisine. If you’re trying out the local feasts, don’t miss out on a traditional fresh seafood curry, and the fresh fruit platters that are full of mangoes, papayas, pineapples and more!

Local cafes in the area such as Wild Beach Cafe and Flow Café are popular for their relaxed ambiance and delicious offerings.
